Tai Calon was established in 2010 as a not-for-profit housing association, with almost 6,000 homes we are the largest provider of affordable homes in Blaenau Gwent. What you’ll be doing:
As a Community Housing Officer, you’ll play a vital role in helping tenants feel supported and ensuring our communities flourish.
Each day will be different, you might be out working across Blaenau Gwent carrying out inspections, making sure neighbourhoods are safe, clean, and welcoming, or working with tenants to help them sustain their homes. You’ll also be supporting people through tenancy challenges, addressing anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concerns, and tenancy sustainment, always with a focus on delivering a proactive, customer-focused service.
Success in this role isn’t just about what you do, but how you do it. You’ll bring energy, integrity, and a commitment to our CALON values, approaching every situation with empathy and a genuine desire to make a difference. You’ll be personable and approachable, building strong relationships with tenants, colleagues, and external partners. Whether it’s putting wellbeing plans in place, connecting tenants with the right support, leading neighbourhood improvements or tackling access issues for essential services, your skills and judgement will make a real impact.
You’ll also handle tenancy breaches, prepare legal paperwork where needed, and on occasion represent Tai Calon at meetings or in County Court. As a result, you will need to be organised and proactive, to manage a varied workload, balancing priorities and paying attention to detail, while using your negotiation and problem-solving skills to find common ground and deliver positive outcomes.

Contract Type:
Permanent
Working Pattern:
You will work 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
You will also be eligible for our Flexi Time scheme, with most colleagues working their hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Where You'll Be Working:
This role offers Hybrid Working, where you’ll be able to work from home. For the days that you're in the office, we've got a bright, open and modern space for you to catch up with colleagues and work from.
This role will also require you to work out in the community, visiting Tai Calon properties across Blaenau Gwent, so you’ll need to ensure you have transport.
