Your Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
You will also need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications
• Educated to a level 2 national qualification framework in City and Guilds Advanced Craft or NVQ
• NPTC or LANTRA Brush Cutter & Strimmer certificate or willing to undertake in-house training
• CIEH Manual handling
• Full UK Driving Licence (Desirable)
• Interest in natural history
• Understanding of Health and Safety to ensure safe working practices
• Knowledge of social housing sector
• Experience of working or volunteering in a similar environment – construction, ground working, landscaping, ground maintenance
• Experience of working directly with community and voluntary groups
• Experience of working within customer focussed environment
• Experience of towing trailers (Desirable)
What you’ll be doing:
Our Green Earth Operative (Seasonal) undertake general maintenance and improvement work to the wider green spaces within Tai Calon communities. This will primarily include tasks such as grass cutting, hedge maintenance and ground/weed clearance.
As a Green Earth Operative (Seasonal) you’ll take ownership to:
• Ensure the general maintenance of Tai Calon’s green spaces through methods such as grass cutting, hedge maintenance and ground/weed clearance
• Carry out equipment checks before use and carry out weekly maintenance on all plant / tools and PPE, including the completion of relevant paperwork
• Use best / safe practice on all task carries out and ensure the appropriate PPE is used
• Ensure all the work within assigned areas is carried out to a high standard
• Always operate and ensure the proper use of machinery and equipment and within training capabilities
• Be responsible of the maintenance of all issued PPE, report any issues, concerns or items that require attention to team leader
• You may be required, where applicable, to drive company vehicles as required to transport operatives, equipment and waste products
• Maintain up to date knowledge of safe working practices
• Carry our practical conservation and improvement tasks as required within the role
• Undertake training / instruction relevant to the role and as directed by your supervisor
Contract Type:
Fixed Term - 6 Months
Working Pattern:
As a Green Earth Operative (Seasonal), you will work 37 hours per week.

This role requires travel across the Blaenau Gwent areas
