Your Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
You will also need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications
• Educated to Level 2 National Qualification Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland
• Health and safety knowledge with an ability to ensure safe working practices
• Significant experience within a similar role of similar responsibilities
• Experience of working in the public and private sector
What you’ll be doing
Our Carpenters work in our Property Services Team and have an important customer-facing role in carrying out all aspects of carpentry work from first and second fix. You will also carry out various ancillary works associated with the trade activity, including kitchen renewals and general carpentry work.
You will work across Blaenau Gwent in a range of Tai Calon properties, including occupied, void, communal areas, garages, and commercial properties.
In addition to your core trade, our Carpenters are multi-skilled, so we’ll be looking for someone who can carry out other trade-based activities such as decorating, brickwork, flooring, plumbing skills etc. You can find more information about other trade-based activities in the enclosed Job Description.
As a Carpenter, you’ll take ownership in
• Ensuring that all carpentry works are completed in adherence with the manufacturer's specifications/instructions and Tai Calon’s standards, policies and procedures.
• Ensuring that all works are undertaken in a considerate manner and to a satisfactory standard in terms of performance and quality. These include:
o Installation - all aspects of install work from kitchen renewals, fire doors, void refurbishments to minor repairs.
o Identifying, measuring, specifying and ordering materials required to complete the work.
o Identifying the best course of action when a repair cannot be completed and making decisions for next steps.
o Liaison with colleagues about next steps.
o On occasion to train and mentor Apprentices / Trainees, allocate and their supervise work, resolving any immediate work problems or disputes.
o Ancillary works associated with the core trade activity.

Working Pattern:
You will work 37 hours per week, with your working pattern set as;
• Monday to Thursday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Friday – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
You will also participate in the out of hours duty rota.
Where You'll Be Working:
Our Carpenters work in Tai Calon properties across Blaenau Gwent, and you will not be office-based.
