Your Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

You will also need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications

• Basic level of Maths and English (Level 1 or Level 2)

• Experience using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

What you’ll be doing

Our Finance Officer (Trainee) will support the finance team in various financial operations whilst undergoing training to develop skills and knowledge in payroll, payables and receivables.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and enjoys working with numbers and is committed to career development in Finance and Payroll, and keen to expand their knowledge through qualifications, such as AAT or CIPP.

As a Finance Officer (Trainee) you’ll take ownership to:

• Support the processing of financial transactions, including payroll, expenses, accounts, payable and accounts receivable.

• Assist in preparation and process of payroll, ensuring accuracy of calculations and compliance within company policy and regulations.

• Update and maintain accurate records, including payroll payments and dedications and other relevant data in a timely manner.

• Liaise and resolve payroll queries with employees and partner organisations such as auditors or pension providers.

• Assist with monthly salary forecasting to support financial reporting.

• Assist the processing of expense claims.

• Assist with monthly payment deduction schedules, ensure payments are processed within relevant timescales.

• Assist the processing of supplies invoices on a timely basis, ensure they are matched to purchase orders and invoices are scanned into the accounting system.

• Review and monitor the procure to pay system, ensuring expenditures are committed in line with Financial Regulations.

• Processing customer invoices in a timely manner.

• Assist with customer debt collection in line with policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity of the finance systems.

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, HMRC policy / guidance as well as internal policies and procedures.

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets and forecasts.

• Analyse financial data to support financial reporting and decision making.

• Provide cover for the Finance Officer Accounts Payable and Finance Officer Accounts Receivable as necessary.

• Carry out any other duties considered appropriate with the position.

Working Pattern:

As a Finance Officer (Trainee), you will work 37 hours per week.
