With more than 280 people trained and dedicated to their job, we’re a big employer in the area, and we’re looking for a Scheme Cleaning Operative to work in our Sheltered Schemes.
About You:
To be successful as a Scheme Cleaning Operative, the ideal candidate will

Your Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
You will also need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications
- Training and / or qualification related to working within a care setting such as the Protection of Vulnerable adults, Professional boundaries and Equality and Diversity
- Experience of carrying out cleaning task to a good standard
- Experience of using cleaning equipment in a safe manner
- Experience of working in a care setting
- Experience of working with tenants and other stakeholders within the social housing sector
- Tenant and customer focussed and commitment to Service First principles.
- Flexible, willingness to work outside of normal working hours
What you’ll be doing:
As a Scheme Cleaning Operative you’ll take ownership in:
Daily Duties:
- To clean all toilets, wash floors, surfaces, renew toilet rolls and soap when necessary.
- Keep Kitchen areas clean and tidy at all times – washing the kitchen floor, cooker and fridge
- Load and unload the dishwasher as appropriate
- Clean laundry room and wash floor
- Emptying litter bins and removing other waste to designated areas, ensuring recycling requirements are met
- Clean entrance steps, stairs and landings
- Clean dining area
- Provide a general tidy throughout common areas
- Dust lounge and vacuum all floors
Weekly Duties
- Clean Kitchen Cupboards
- Clean bin areas
- Wash Kitchen bin and any other bin that requires it
- Polish brass and/or chrome work including mirrors
- Remove dirty marks from walls, cupboards etc
- Dust and vacuum Office
Every Two Weeks
- Change guest room bedding and wash inside windows
- Dust any blinds
- Every Four Weeks:
- Wash inside of all windows including corridor windows
- Clean skirting, ledges and other woodwork
- Clean behind furniture including light fittings
- Defrost freezer
Contract Type:
Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2027
Working Pattern:
As an Scheme Cleaner Operative, you will work 10 hours per week.
Where You'll Be Working:
You will primarily be working in Tai Calon Sheltered Schemes across Blaenau Gwent but for reference of what our Head Office looks like
