Have you ever wanted to play a bigger role in shaping the services you receive as a Tai Calon tenant?
We’re looking for a Tenant Board Member to join our Board and help ensure that tenants' voices are at the heart of the decisions we make.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience as a tenant to influence the future of Tai Calon, helping us continue to provide good-quality homes and services for communities across Blaenau Gwent.
What does the Board do?
Our Board is responsible for setting Tai Calon’s strategic direction, making important decisions about the organisation and ensuring we continue to deliver excellent services for our customers.
As a Tenant Board Member, you’ll work alongside other Board members and our senior leadership team to make decisions that have a real impact on tenants and communities.

What will you do?
As a Tenant Board Member, you will:
- Share your experience and perspective as a Tai Calon tenant.
- Bring tenants’ views and concerns into Board discussions.
- Help shape the future of our services and priorities.
- Review information on performance, finances and risks.
- Ask questions, challenge decisions where appropriate and support good governance.
- Help ensure the impact on tenants is considered in every decision we make.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for tenants who:
- Care about their community.
- Want to make a positive difference.
- They are willing to share their views and ideas.
- Can listen to different opinions and work with others.
- Feel comfortable asking questions and contributing to discussions.
You do not need previous Board experience.
We’ll provide a full induction, training and ongoing support to help you understand the role and build your confidence.
Will it take up a lot of my time?
Board Members are expected to:
- Attend six Board meetings each year (usually held on Monday evenings from 5pm to 7pm).
- Join at least one Board Committee, which meets four times a year (also usually on Monday evenings).
- Read meeting papers in advance to prepare for discussions.
- Take part in training and development opportunities, including our annual Board Away Day.
